Consultation with community groups established the vision and brief for this ‘first of its kind’ building, which incorporates elements made by local artists. The result is a vibrant, gregarious and accessible building, comprising administration areas, catering facilities, workshops, exhibition and multi-purpose spaces, and a shop for selling artists work. Due to its increased exposure and functionality, the centre has increased its user groups from fifteen to approximately seventy user groups. The Centre is much loved by its users and has attracted attention throughout Australia as a model for community involvement and artistic collaboration. It has received major State and National architectural awards.
